Battlefield 6 Players Agree: Tasks Are Way Too Hard
The debut of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 was met with significant enthusiasm, particularly for its flagship multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, live player figures surged to nearly 750,000. Yet, despite its popularity, many players are expressing frustration over some of the game's toughest challenges, which are required to access certain guns.
Users have commenced using tailored sessions set up using the Portal feature to complete them, highlighting just how arduous these challenges have become.
Understanding Battlefield 6 Objectives
Assignments are Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, different from the regularly refreshed day-to-day and weekly tasks. It features four classes of assignments, but while the majority only reward cosmetics and some tools, completing the weapon assignments is the exclusive means of obtaining 12 of the 41 primary weapons present in the game.
Some of these gated guns may soon make their appearance on rankings for the top weapons in Battlefield 6.
Community Frustration on Reddit
Within Reddit, players are justifiably voicing their concerns about how hard and tedious several of these challenges are. An individual player highlighted one of the most egregious examples, needed to obtain the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Suppress 300 enemies with LMGs
- Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs
"This challenge is so terrible and entirely ill-conceived, I want to scream in frustration," is a quote that summarizes just how frustratingly difficult these tasks are.
Suppression in Battlefield is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it has significantly fewer positive effects in fights as it had in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you fail to hit several consecutive shots.
Additionally, hipfiring an LMG is extremely unreliable and functions solely at extremely close range, which isn't typically where you aim to be. That player also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, needed to obtain the SCW-10, which demands eliminations when scoped in, when that mission would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and vice versa.
Another Extremely Difficult Mission
Another Reddit user brought attention to an additional excessively hard challenge, within the long-range weapon type to unlock the PSR:
- Secure 150 precision takedowns beyond 200 meters with long-range weapons
This is tough enough as it is, but there's an additional crucial factor to consider: many Battlefield 6 maps don't even support combat at such a long range.
There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but since there are only nine maps in the game right now, it means you're limited to playing one of the larger locales, a particular valley environment, and maybe a classic map at a push if you plan to engage from afar from a significant distance.
The Alternative Method
However, there is a solution: the custom game tool. The Battlefield Portal is a feature that enables you to make custom game modes on any map you prefer, featuring computer-controlled players. This allows you can exploit the mechanics… but it isn't truly in line with the intended gameplay experience.
Yet, if completing the missions in a proper game appears to work against fun, since you must engage in such an unconventional way that doesn't benefit you or your team, who can blame someone for grinding them out in a custom game so allies are not impaired?
Future Adjustments
It is expected if some of these assignments are adjusted to be less difficult in the near future, because should they remain unchanged, some players simply will never acquire the gated weapons.
For now, the audience continues to share their thoughts on these challenging battlefield assignments, hoping for a less arduous player experience in future updates.
