Campbell Hatton Shares Heartfelt Tribute to His Late Parent

Ricky Hatton’s son Campbell delivered an emotional tribute through his first public comments following his father’s death.

Expressions of sympathy have poured in throughout the boxing community and beyond in the wake of the tragic news of the former world welterweight titleholder, who was discovered at his residence this past weekend at the age of 46.

“There are no words to describe how I feel,” wrote his son with a set of personal pictures.

“Those who knew us always noted I was your twin – not a more accurate word spoken. Forever idolized you in each aspect of life.”

He continued: “There’s no way to put into words how much I’m going to miss the good times we shared and each of the special memories, that I will hold dear always. Just can’t accept we can no longer have another. Love you, Dad.”

Regional police confirmed that the boxing star had been found on his property situated in the Manchester area. They stated that there were no unusual factors involved in the event.

Following in the footsteps of his father, Campbell once pursued a career in the ring, taking his pro first appearance in recent years. He subsequently withdrew from the competition not long ago.

The following day, the relatives of the champion issued a statement conveying that they were “deeply moved” by the immense wave of support and condolences sent their way.

“Our loved one was far greater than a sports figure. To us, he was just ‘Richard,’ our boy. A devoted dad, grandad, and sibling, and a loyal companion to numerous people,” the statement said.

“He possessed a heart as large as his smile, and his kindness, humour, and loyalty impacted each person lucky enough to know him.

“To the broader world, he will forever be known as one of boxing’s most iconic figures – a individual who put his all inside the ring and displayed his heart on his publicly.”
