James Gunn's Man of Steel Arrives on the Streaming Platform This Week
Only 70 days following its cinema release, James Gunn and David Corenswet’s Superman arrives for streaming on HBO Max very soon.
Lead actor David Corenswet confirmed the update on his Instagram account with a snapshot of his TV displaying the film on the streamer’s homepage. He humorously mentioned co-star Sara Sampaio with a shout-out to her character Eve Teschmacher, while the director shared the news on Twitter, confirming the movie arrives on September 19th. Warner Bros. Pictures confirmed the update not long after in an official statement.

To mark the Man of Steel's arrival, HBO Max is rolling out a exclusive Superman-themed design packed with interactive features. Viewers can expect news-inspired interface design, a Fortress of Solitude hub highlighting related films and shows, and easter egg pathways across the homepage that transport users into Lex Luthor’s Pocket Dimension.
Milestone Achievements
Superman smashed through key benchmarks during its run, such as the largest debut for a Man of Steel film to date. It surpassed Barbie in entering the Two Million Member film community in just 45 days.
Future of the DCU
Although some may be divided about its portrayal of the hero or how it concludes, Superman has created a solid first step in DC's new universe. Another installment titled Man of Tomorrow is in the works, with David Corenswet as Superman and Nicholas Hoult's Lex Luthor potentially collaborating to combat an new adversary. The project is scheduled to begin production next year and premiere in cinemas on the summer of 2027.
For now, audiences can enjoy Superman on the platform starting this Friday, Sept. 19.
