President Donald Trump has sharply criticized the violent beheading of an Indian-origin hotel manager in Texas recently.

"The time for being lenient on these illegal aliens is ENDED under my watch," the President declared in a message on his Truth Social platform.

Background of the Tragic Attack

Chandra Mouli Nagamallaiah, 50, was reportedly assaulted with a machete by his colleague Yordanis Cobos-Martinez in front of his wife and child after a heated argument over a broken washing machine.

Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, who is now in custody, has been charged with murder.

The President’s Response

President Trump promised that the accused "will be prosecuted to the maximum of the law" and will be "charged with murder in the most severe charge."

He also criticized the federal government, saying that Mr Cobos-Martinez had been earlier detained for several crimes, including accused child abuse, but was "freed back into society because his home country declined to take him back."

Legal Status of the Suspect

According to federal records, the suspect is an unauthorized migrant with a final order of removal from the US.

He was reportedly in detention at a center in Dallas but was released on an monitoring order in January after authorities "refused to accept him due to his record."

Victim’s Background

The victim, who hailed from the Indian state of South India, worked at the Downtown Suites Motel in Dallas.

He attended school and college in Bengaluru, India, before relocating to the US in recent years. His son recently graduated high school and is planning to begin college.

Details of the Attack

The attack took place on September 10. Law enforcement responded to a "knife attack call" and confirmed through preliminary findings that the suspect had cut the victim multiple times with an machete.

ICE has placed a hold on the suspect at the local jail, where he remains in custody.

Aftermath

The victim’s funeral were conducted on 13 September in Texas, attended by loved ones.

A donation drive launched to support his family has collected over $321,000 so far.
