The Israeli Premier League rivalry match featuring one local team and Hapoel Tel Aviv was abandoned before the start on the weekend, due to what law enforcement described as "public disorder and serious disturbances".

"Dozens of smoke grenades and flares were thrown," law enforcement stated on online platforms, noting "this is not a match, it represents chaos and serious violence".

Twelve civilians and multiple officers were hurt, officials confirmed, while multiple persons were arrested and sixteen questioned by police.

The unrest happen just a brief period after officials in the UK announced that supporters of the team cannot be permitted to attend the international tournament match at Aston Villa in the UK the following month because of security issues.

One team censured the game abandonment, accusing Israeli police of "gearing up for a conflict, instead of a sporting event", including during meetings in the lead-up to the much-expected fixture.

"The shocking situations around the stadium and due to the ill-considered and scandalous ruling to cancel the game only prove that the law enforcement has assumed command over the football," the team stated officially.

Their rivals has remained silent, only acknowledging the fixture was abandoned.

The judgment by Birmingham's Safety Advisory Group to ban club followers from the English fixture on the sixth of November has triggered broad condemnation.

The government officials has later announced it is seeking to cancel the ban and investigating what further support might be required to ensure the match can be hosted safely.

The English club informed their security personnel that they did not have to work at the game, explaining they recognized that some "might feel uneasy".

On the previous day, local authorities stated it endorsed the restriction and categorized the match as "high risk" due to reports and previous incidents.

That involved "serious fights and bigotry-related acts" between Ajax and their supporters prior to a game in the Netherlands in the previous year, when numerous persons were arrested.

There have been protests at various athletic competitions regarding the war in Gaza, for instance when Israel played the Scandinavian team and Italy in current qualification games.
